GREAVES AND THOMAS EGG CHAIR

I was contacted by Ben who had picked up a real vintage 60s chair, beautifully formed in fibreglass and extremely comfortable and sturdy but with the upholstery looking dated. Ben was in two minds to dump it but really loved the comfortable seat so asked me if I could help. I chose Abraham Moon wool fabric in sky blue with a matching patterned Jim Dickens fabric for the cushion. With matching buttons on the back it looks like new and is now an eye catching piece that would complement any mid century interior.

Ben said;

“Thankyou so much for the wonderful work you’ve carried out on my beloved egg chair, it looks fantastic beyond my expectations, it now has pride of place in the study, and even joins me in the garden sometimes! The quality of your work is exceptional and has attracted many envious comments! Best wishes Ben”

TRADITIONAL STITCHED AND STUFFED OPEN ARM CHAIR

Wendy had an old chair in her kitchen that was a particular favourite of Cleopatra. It was a beautiful French piece dating back to 1920’s with turned legs and attractively angled arms. Of course, Wendy wanted to hold onto it but it was really letting her kitchen down. She wanted a country look so I helped her select some heavy duty cotton weave in a gingham style. The result is a stunning addition to her country kitchen and of course Cleopatra finds the location near the Rayburn totally irresistible.

 “Cleopatra always gets the best seat in the house! Thankyou for the great service.”

BOOK BOX SEAT LIDS UPHOLSTERED IN RED VELVET

A primary school teacher in Plymouth approached me to ask if there was anything I could do to help with a set of old book boxes that were looking really shabby. Children had been using them for years and the cover material was worn out making the seats uninviting and uncomfortable. He asked me for my advice and I recommended a red velvet in the Linwood Omega collection of richly coloured Italian velvets for curtains and upholstery, with a washable, stain repellent finish. Omega is exceptionally hard-wearing and easy to care for which made it suitable for school children – easily wiped clean, resistant to grubby hands but also soft and tactile.
Over a period of a week I fixed up the boxes and they look like new. Here¹s what the teacher said;

 “Staff and children are so pleased with the reupholstered book boxes in the library. Thank you for your advice on material to use, they are perfect.”

 It’s great to know the children are enjoying the library on rainy days and the overall impact on the appearance of the room is surprisingly cheerful.
